This is the framework all of the Rapport modules to plug into.
This module allows you to limit access to different features according to a given user’s rights; for example, Staff can have different rights to customers.
Your users can send personal messages to each other, selecting either single or multiple recipients.
A users profile is their identity on the site. Users can customise the information about themselves visible in the
profile, upload a picture and upload an image to use as the background to their profile. Profile questions can be
created by you for your users to answer. Members can search for other members, and view each others available
information such as profile photo, profile question answers, user status, any events they are attending*, who their
friends are, and media they have uploaded* etc. There is also the option to send friend requests, Twitter-style
'following' of other users, chat or block.
*if you have these modules.
Within each user’s profile is a "wall", where users can write public messages to each other. There is also a hidden wall on each member’s profile, only visible to staff, allowing you to make notes on customers.
An advanced search option, this allows you to identify people according to group membership (if applicable) and/or their responses to profile questions.
You can create mini surveys, individual questions asked across the site. These can be extremely useful in determining customer preferences and, because they are small, fun and relevant, are more likely to be answered. Like the questions in the user’s profile, survey questions can be used to target people in the reporting.
Send messages only to users in a selected demographic, meaning your customers will only receive marketing messages relevant to them.
An integral part of Rapport, this allows members to report any User Generated Content they feel is inappropriate, offensive or in breach of copyright. These are flagged for your attention or, for ease of management, you can have content removed after x number of complaints from users.
Newsfeeds allow your users to get personalised updates from the site fed straight into the web page or application of their choice.
Newsfeeds work because they are always fresh, new and entirely personal to each user. It is a way to constantly be in your customers mind with no effort. They cover anything you have implemented in Rapport, from friend notifications to new events or products you are launching. The news feed includes updates on a users friends, people they are following and content they have bookmarked.
This information is also aggregated on the Newsfeed page. The feeds can also be viewed on the users Google Home Page. A user can opt to also receive updates via email if they wish.
Tagging aids with the search function. For example, if you (and all your members) tagged certain events or photos with the word ‘animal’ then if you search for ‘animal’ everything created with that tag would appear. Content tags are also embedded into the page's meta-content for improved search engine ranking.
Categories can be created to which all user generated content can be assigned.
Everything across your Rapport can be search on, which is very useful if you are searching for a member, an event, an old photo album etc.
All user generated content can be assigned a customised, user-friendly URL making it easier for the pages on your site to be found on the web, easier for people to link to and improving SEO. e.g. instead of:
www.mysocialnetwork.com/Photo-Album.aspx?id=a439f70b-e9e6-40a1-9368-a65e0e9df23d
You can link to:
www.mysocialnetwork.com/MyPictures
Users can create their own blogs. They can opt to make it visible to all or to only their friends. Favourite blogs can be bookmarked. If you wish, you can choose to disable this feature for customers and instead create official blogs for members to bookmark. Blogs can incorporate text, video, images and documents plus the ability to embed external tools.
People like to become involved in different discussions, and they like to help people. The reason they are on your Rapport is because they have something in common. Forums allow members to become involved in conversation threads around a topic, meet new friends and express or learn something. If you wish you can have the security set so that only staff can create forum topics. This feature can also be disabled if it is not appropriate.
